Whats new Summer 2011

Ok, I know I haven't posted any updates in a while. Hey it's SUMMER! and we finally got some nice weather! In Halifax! That something to celebrate! PLUS Jazzfest has been going on! That means I've been busy enjoying some awesome shows, and we've had the Multi-cultural fest, the Pow-Wow, the Lebanese fest and well..... tons of festivals. Bit bummed I didn't get to the Stan Rogers Folk Festival, but, oh well... can't do it all. Oh, can't forget Shakespeare by the Sea has started it's summer season AND the Al Fresco Film Festival starts soon. There's no reason to be bored in Halifax during the summer.

Back to salon news, lots of new products coming in, (mostly L'oreal Professional) our retail area is having a revamp with the help of a beautiful Moroccanoil display shelf, our hair feathers are CRAZY popular and people are loving the new Kerastraight hair smoothing treatment! All exciting news!

Local Food

Ok, this has nothing to do with work, however it is pretty fabulous. And fabulous is what we're all about!

I had lunch with a friend today at Brooklyn Warehouse. The food and service were fabulous. But most exciting of all, they support the slow food movement, which I am a huge supporter of! Their wine list was all local wines, the food is locally sourced, it's all fresh, reasonably sized portions and everything was delicious!

Carnival of Beauty

So, the big Carnival of Beauty event was this weekend.

If your not familiar with this event, it's put on every year by Maritime Beauty Supply and is pretty fabulous!

Well, pretty fabulous again!

Met lots of fun people, learned some stuff, saw new things, shopped...... all in all, pretty good time.

The Gala last night was DJ'ed by Halifax's own Logan Hudak. Did an awesome job, as usual. Followed by lots of after party, hear that was a good time. :)

Highlights of the weekend include, LCN's new Glass Nails, FAB! Redken's IntraForce, we just got this in salon, pretty exciting. Babe eyelash extensions, not actually launched yet, but did see some girls wearing them, (getting a set myself as soon as they are released.) Met Scott Moon, Redken's general manager, all around fabulous guy. Sat in on a class by Colin Ford, also pretty fabulous. They had some excellent platform artists and alot of unbelievable local talent!

Pretty great weekend, kind of tired, but getting ready for fashion show on Friday!

Upcoming Fashion Show

Whew! It's been alot of work, but we are just about ready for our next fashion show.Last one was a great time, so here's hoping this one goes just as well! I really have no right to complain (although I may) I'm just in charge of organizing, the stylists do the real work. I'm glad that they're a creative bunch, we want to do something completely new each time, keep it fresh.

This time we are taking inspiration from some alternative hair show pictures that we've been looking at. Big hair pieces, accessories, creative use of color, really have fun with it. I think Redken should be pleased, they've gone more high fashion in the last couple of years. This should be a good reflection of the direction they're going in.

We've got a couple new make-up artists this time also. One we've used before, the other two are new talent for us. Always exciting to work with someone new, to see what they bring to the table.

Better finish up, tons left to do, plus need a good nights sleep, it's going to be a longggg day!!
